6th sense eating

6th sense eating is a collaboration of your body with your head, heart and mind. It's using the truth you can see, taste, smell and feel to notice what you notice and tune-in to what feels good to you.

Don't be trapped by a diet. Instead, find ways to feel good and feel dignified at the same time. Sensual eating is the intuitive way to think creatively about your needs. You don't need permission to think for yourself. Only you know what feels good.

 Here's how to begin:
  • make healthy 3-ingredient pancakes:  bananas, eggs + peanut butter
  • make shakes with dates instead of sugar
  • use fruit instead of syrup on top of pancakes
  • spread avocado instead of mayo to moisten sandwich
  • bake zucchini instead of french fries
  • freeze grapes for snacks instead of candy
  • use yogurt instead of mayo in salads
  • dip in Greek yogurt instead of sour cream
  • sprinkle with nutritional yeast instead of cheese
  • use potatoes instead of cream in soup
  • use liquid aminos instead of cheese on pasta
  • add grains to chili instead of meat
  • make meatballs with oats instead of bread crumbs
It’s easy to combine the simplicity of what you sense, the honesty of what you feel with your mind, and the anchor of what you know from experience, to be a 6th sense eater. Living well requires us to taste our dreams, inhale our desires and roll with our moments. If you feel frustrated around eating, then it may be a result of over-thinking. Learn to think with your senses and feel with your mind. Be liberated by being true to yourself.  It's simple.

Why Binge?

Binging is caused by real heartache. We may feel hurt, frustrated, ignored, alone, disappointed or violated. It feels like confusion magnified by self-doubt. We binge because we're searching for a feeling. That feeling is our heart connection, and it's vital  for happiness and healthy eating.
Binging happens when we lose sight of our heart. Maybe we find it in the bottom of the container of ice cream, or licking the spoonful of mayonnaise? Maybe not. It doesn't matter. What matters is being willing to start over.

The person we're trying to get approval and understanding from is ourselves. The answer is: Yes! You are good. You deserve to be respected and loved. The truth is, Life is a constant experience of rising to the occasion. Be honest with yourself.

Mark Twain said, "A man cannot be satisfied without his own approval."  Am I Really Hungry? is a handbook full of easy ways to recognize what you really want and how to achieve this goal.

We all have real needs that can feel like hunger. Hunger can be physical, emotional, social or intuitive. We may eat to release stress or hold on to a memory. When we know what we're hungry for and how to get it, satisfaction feels like self-control.
Why not give yourself a chance? We only fail when we give up.

Losing our heart connection feels like a 'bad mood'. Certain foods may end bad moods.  Next time you notice a disconnect, ask yourself what you really want. Then, find your favorite binging buddy - perhaps ice cream - and enjoy a normal serving because you deserve sweetness and love from yourself. Being good to yourself is the first step towards defeating a habit of binging.

Making a choice.

Classic dieting doesn't work. It's a fact that 95% of dieters re-gain their weight. Intuitive eaters maintain their weight.  They use inner courage to connect with their intuition

As I was talking about courage, a woman asked me, what about risks?
Risks are part of living. We take a risk when we cross the street, or go out on a blind date. Really living puts us in touch with risks every day. Risks are about danger. Being courageous is a form of inner resolve.

Eating with courage is not dangerous, so it’s not taking a risk. It is choice based on trusting your intuitive wisdom to guide your eating. When you make the choice to be an intuitive eater, you begin. Yep, it's that easy. Doing what you really believe takes courage. Making the choice is like turning a corner. The fact is: eating intuitively is a choice.

Intuition puts you in control of your eating because it gives you clarity.  When you make eating choices based on using your 6 senses, your emotions don't rule, you do! When clarity is the foundation for your efforts to be your healthy weight, it happens.

Everything you do takes effort, and every effort you make creates results. Be clear about your eating goals, and you will achieve them.  Make the choice.
