It's time to feel the joy!

Stop being manipulated! Old school diet plans manipulate you with guilt and doubt so that you become emotionally starved and binge out of frustration! It's the opposite of joy.

Aren't you ready to feel the joy?

In truth, eating is strictly physical. Step into the 21st century by using intuitive tools to be clear about what will give you the best quality of life. Intuitive eating is all about you.

Feeling joy is an obvious key to quality of life. By using curiosity and foresight for perspective and protection around food, you can stay clear about your priorities. You'll feel the joy of self-control!

Many holiday foods can fuel your body and streamline your life. Eat with the purpose of achieving best quality of life.
To do this:
Eat less, but eat variety.
Take 'tastes' and savor them.
Pause to notice what you eat.
Don't feel a need to try everything at one time.
Listen to your body, not your emotions.
Trust your intuition.

The following 'super foods' have more nutrition per calorie and high levels of antioxidants and phytochemicals. According to authorities, they protect you against cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, obesity, diverticulosis and cataracts.

Super Food list:
Chocolate: dark (at least 60%) is best, enjoy a few bites
Nuts: a small handful, well chewed will give you long-term energy
Pumpkin & Sweet Potatoes: mega vitamins for your immune system
Pomegranate: anti-inflammatory, benefits the nervous system, inhibits tumor cell growth
Cinnamon: helps maintain healthy blood sugar level, considered anti-bacterial
Cranberries: high in vitamin C which is why it's tart, eat in moderation
Nutmeg: have in small doses, can enhance sleep and help regulate anxiety

It's easy. Intuitive eating keeps you aware of what you eat, so you can demand, expect and create the quality of life you want. You can't buy good health, but you can enable it.

At mealtime, use your all of your senses, including common sense, to relate what you think with what you physically feel.  You'll discover that using your mind to fuel your body protectively, becomes automatic.

Temptation and Obsession

What is the difference between temptation and obsession when it comes to diet?

Being tempted to eat means you are still in control. We all live with temptation. We are in a kind of flow, where choices must be made before we realize it. You are tempted to stay longer, leave earlier, eat more, work-out less, make a call, turn off the phone, take a chance, stay with the familiar, stop learning new things, start something new- .
  • Temptation makes you think twice. It puts you to the test.
  • Because temptation forces you to think twice, you are in control.
Temptation is the opportunity for you to remember your eating priorities. Feeding this satisfies you physically and emotionally. Think twice about what your body needs to feel satisfied by noticing what you notice.
  • When you tune in to your body and make the choice to respect your self, things start to make sense.
  • Amazingly temptation brings out the best in you.
Obsessing feels like being out of control. It's unpleasant. In fact, obsession is losing perspective about what makes you feel good. It's like filling a sieve with water - it doesn't work. Perhaps the obsession is pizza, chocolate, or pasta and you only can think of finding satisfaction with your obsession. But- the problem is that it doesn’t happen. The result is of obsessive eating is physical discomfort and emotional dissatisfaction because in fact, food is not a substitute for what you really want.

Only eating for good health,
for quality of life,
to enjoy the sharing the pleasure and
to experience the satisfaction of taste and smell, can satisfy you physically.
Anything else that may drive you to eat is self-destructive.

You can stay in control by remembering emotional demands are not your friend. Emotional demands ignore physical needs. Your senses connect with you physically.  Trust what you see and taste with what you know, before you allow your emotions to boss you around.  Ideas that turn into obsessions about what to eat, are not in sync with your physical needs. Don't abuse your body or allow stress to defeat your eating goals.
  • Be flexible with yourself and you will discover that you have the answers.
  • Your first intuitive sense is your survival instinct. Use it.
Many people write to me because they identify with my March 23 blog: Zig Zag Eating, http://fine-tuning-eating.blogspot.com/2010/03/zig-zag-eating.html.   Is that you?

We’re in this together, and we’ll walk through this together. You are not alone. Keep your head up and your eyes open. You have "it".

Namaste.

An Eating Lifestyle and A Quality of Life

“Man your Ships, and may the Force be with you.”
Star Wars, George Lucas

Your ‘Ships’ are your 5 basic senses:
Taste,     Touch,     Seeing,    Hearing   and    Smell.
The ‘Force’ is your 6th sense, your Intuition.

Look at your hand, and think of your five fingers as your five senses, and your palm as your intuition. Your palm connects your five fingers. In fact, if you hurt your palm it’s hard to pick up a book or hold a glass. The way your fingers work well together is through being connected by your palm.

Think of your palm as your intuition and your fingers as your five senses. Just like your fingers work together, usually your different senses work together. You hear a noise and turn to see. Or you see something, smell it and then taste it, or touch something and then smell it. Your senses are your source of recognizing what you are looking at, what’s touching you, or a tone of voice.

It is natural to use all of your senses when you eat. Taste and smell join together in their double roles of safety and seduction by warning of danger when foods are spoiled, or you may be excited by the smell and taste, of your favorite meal. You see attractive, desirable food, and also what looks fattening or poorly prepared. You may hear the crunchy sound of food that’s fresh, or sizzling of food that’s hot, and we know when each is right to eat.
You touch food with your hands as well as your mouth. Sometimes it feels rotten or too hard, or is too tough to chew, or has a consistency that you spit out. Other times you may enjoy biting into a crisp apple, or enjoy the succulent texture of kobe beef. Your intuition gives you pleasure and protection by heightening all of your other senses. It is the invisible glue that unifies and balances your perceptions.

What is intuitive eating?
Intuitive eating is an eating lifestyle that focuses on enjoying food for quality of life. It is about eating for pleasure from a personal place of integrity that includes nourishing and respecting your senses, mind, heart, and body, simultaneously. Intuitive eaters are a healthy weight. When we use our intuition, our mind and body work together, and there is a surge of gentle energy that we recognize as being in sync with our self.
